A senior Russian army officer has been declared dead following an explosion in Moscow, according to official statements.
The attack occurred on Monday morning when an bomb planted beneath a vehicle was set off, leading to the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.
Sarvarov served as the head of the armed forces' operational training department.
Investigators indicated that one possible explanation involves the alleged involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. To date, Ukraine has offered no public response.
Location of the Attack
Personnel have been sent to the scene, which is said to be in a southerly district of the metropolis.
Accounts suggest the blast took place in a vehicle lot near a residential building.
